Sunday February 10, 2008 FROM THE PARISHES
St Joseph prepares for Synod
By Lynette Taitt, Catechetical Co-ordinator, St Joseph Parish

Our parish is preparing for Synod 2008, which will take place in September. The Synod delegates are keeping parishioners up-to-date with current news and events concerning the Synod. The Synod’s focus will be the Parish:
The articulation of the mission of the Church.
The creation of a parish template.

Our 2008 Lenten retreat will take place for five Mondays during the Lenten period rather than five consecutive days. This is the third year that our own Synod Delegates will be our presenters.

Parishioners will study and reflect on the theme of Solidarity as requested by Archbishop Gilbert in his pastoral letter “Deepening the Spirit of Solidarity”.

Evangelisation

Parents are sometimes forgotten, but at St. Joseph Parish, St Joseph parents are evangelised by parish priest Fr Ferdinand Warner. Parents of First Communion and Confirmation candidates come to the Parish Hall on the third Saturday of every month for one hour. Among some of the topics treated are:
The Bible, the Church, the Sacraments, the Creed, Popular Devotions, Social Justice, the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount.
