Pro-life music festival

World Respect Life Day (WRLD) was celebrated January 22; Dominica’s launch was held January 21 at the St Martin Secondary School. WRLD is into its 35th year and a pro-life music festival is planned as part of a month of activities to celebrate WRL Day in Dominica.

Expected to perform at the music festival are the St Alphonsus Junior and Senior Choirs, the Methodist Youth Choir, The Roseau Cathedral Choir, popular folk singer Ophelia Marie and 2008 Stardom King of the Tent, Chester ‘Daddy Chess’ Letang.

Dominica Social Justice and Peace Committee director, Fr Franklyn Cuffy, said a Mass will also be celebrated at the Roseau Cathedral.

He told Catholic News via e-mail that this is the ninth year WRLD is being celebrated in Dominica. As part of the tenth anniversary next year, a magazine will be published to celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Dominica National Right to Life Committee.

The magazine will include articles on the Caribbean pro-life movement. Also being considered for the tenth anniversary is a conference on a soon-to-be-released document from the Antilles Episcopal Conference of Catholic bishops titled “The Gift of Life”.
