The Social Justice Committee of the Parish of Malabar is collaborating with the Association for Radio Frequency Emission Control in T&T (ARFECTT) and the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program to sensitise the public on the known health hazards associated with the non-thermal radiation generated from cell phones and their base towers.
The organisations are planning a series of interactive seminars to educate the public on this issue, with the first to be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Malabar, from 5 p.m.
Expected to speak are University of the West Indies Professors Stephan Gift and Ramsey Saunders, and ARFECTT’s Peter Permell. Representatives from the Ministries of Health, Planning, Education, Youth, Housing, Environment and Public Utilities have been invited to attend.
Other seminars are planned to be held at three major malls, the Brian Lara Promenade and a venue to be announced in Tobago.
