Dear editor: Please allow me space in your newspaper to affirm the organisers of both the Corpus Christi procession and the Make a Joyful Noise Mass and Concert. I firmly believe that there was a powerful move of the Holy Spirit during both events. The Corpus Christi procession was a witness to the vibrancy of the Catholic faithful in the professing of our faith in Jesus Christ present in Blessed Sacrament. The throngs of Catholics who filled the streets of Port of Spain certainly sent a clear message that we are indeed proud of our Church and not afraid to pray, praise and lift up the Name of Jesus.

Two days later, inspite of the inclement weather, many Catholics came out for Holy Mass and the subsequent activities. The crowd ebbed and flowed as a steady stream of persons moved through the Queen’s Park Savannah. In an atmosphere of favour we were treated to a cool, rainless afternoon setting the stage for a range of artistes who delighted the audience with their creativity and varied performances. The atmosphere of faith was further electrified by the melodious strains of three pan sides. Every face leaving the Savannah showed sheer contentment, and joy. The many booths allowed for great fellowship and community building.
I think that it truly was a moment of grace which exemplified our Catholic belief that God is in everything. The culture and art that we dare to call our own ministered to the crowd and in doing so lifted their spirits. I would like to thank Archbishop Joseph Harris and all members of the steering committee for a job well done. They created a space where we as Catholics could stand tall. We could look beyond the carnage on our roads and the human lives being so easily snuffed out all over our land. I ponder time and again - What if every Catholic were to really commit to living more fully, more authentically our Catholic Culture and Identity, we would truly transform this land!
Eucharistic Heart of Jesus embrace us and shed your light on our lives so that we may always seek to do the will of the Father.
