Commit to being messengers of love, and put that love into action in your ministries.

Vicar General Msgr Robert Llanos issued the challenge to those involved in the Archdiocesan National Hospitality Ministry as they celebrated their seventh anniversary with Holy Mass on July 14 at St Charles Borromeo Church, Tunapuna.

Several parish Hospitality ministries attended the event though some were few in numbers but large at heart. Msgr Llanos was the main celebrant in the absence of Archbishop Joseph Harris; concelebrants were Tunapuna parish priest Fr Reginald Hezekiah, Fr Kenneth Assing, Fr Wilfred John and Msgr Michael de Verteuil. St Charles parish choir led the singing and music.

After Mass, Mennen Walker-Briggs, one of the founders of the ministry, reminded all of its important aspects. She spoke of the formation of the National Hospitality Ministry and its current and future plans.
Incorporated into the occasion was the 20th anniversary celebration of St Charles’ Hospitality Ministry. Walker-Briggs said then parish priest Fr Godfrey Stoute started the ministry in his desire to not only bring a sense of order in the church during liturgies, but to create a more welcoming atmosphere for faithful and visitors alike. She reminded the membership to strive to be a family in their ministry, and work with other ministries as well.

The Ministry’s next event will be their annual spiritual retreat on September 8 at Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe Church, Bourg Mulatresse. - Diana John
