The following article appeared in the September 9, 2007 paper edition

Our primary Catholic schools, through the dedication of their staff and students, have for many years been responsible for the Children’s Page published in our Catholic paper.

The primary schools find the Children’s Page a helpful activity for their classes and the secondary schools use the monthly youth supplement written and compiled by youth in their religion classes.

Some of our Catholic schools have established on a weekly basis a subscription with the Catholic News where the paper can be used to support religious education in their classes.

Ensuring that our Catholic teachers are kept informed with what is taking place in the Catholic Church both locally and internationally.

These schools are:
Primary: Belmont Girls, Newtown Girls, Mucurapo Girls & Sacred Heart Boys (sponsored)

Secondary: Fatima College, Holy Name Convent & St. Joseph’s Convent POS.

Recently, we have been getting requests from some of the catechists in our government schools for our Catholic paper to support the volunteers who teach religion in these schools in the various parish communities.

Sponsor schoolsWe have had in the past a sponsor who ensured that the paper was sent to Matelot Community College and Sacred Heart Boys, both schools indicating how appreciative they are of this sponsorship. This sponsorship ended this academic year September 2007.

In this Catechetical Month we are therefore appealing to all our Catholic benefactors - both businesses and other community members -to support and ensure the teaching of the Catholic faith in all schools.

Become a sponsor for a school in your area. Help spread the faith. Support our teachers and volunteer catechists, become involved in your community.

It’s easy:

  1. Commit to sponsoring
  2. Choose a school
  3. Call our office 623-6093/5421

We will do the rest.

Our schools need your support.
