DOMINICA
The Roseau diocese may have its Catholic radio station come January 2010. Pastoral Centre director Msgr William Jno Lewis told Dominica’s weekly newspaper, The Chronicle, that the station – pending broadcast license approval and purchase of equipment - will enhance evangelisation efforts. “The licenses are in the process of becoming a reality. Once that is done, that means we will have permission to continue preparing for the station. The next big thing of course, is to get the equipment, and we have had some funding from some people who will help us get the transmitter and satellite dish.” Msgr Lewis said a building has already been identified and he hopes people will volunteer their time in order to keep the station running, as well as give financial support. “We’re looking for volunteers to come and assist us…with the tecnology we have today it’s much easier to run a radio station…we are hoping to operate on a volunteer basis. But we will still need technical personnel.”
