Congrats to Word and Associates THE EDITOR: I wish to congratulate our Deacon Reverend Derek Walcott and the members of the Band “The Word and Associates” for their winning presentation at this year’s Carnival celebration. I exhort them to continue their efforts “to turn Carnival around”, the words used by my late sister, Cynthia Allen, in her advocating same; she had been a judge at the Downtown events for a number of years. The words of Our Lady to the three children at Fatima, Portugal come to mind. “Fashions will arise which will greatly offend Our Lord.” Costumes worn by the majority of finale masqueraders were nothing more than coverings for certain parts of their body. There was simply nakedness to the extreme on our streets on the two days of the festivities. I am of the view that our Government needs to address this situation and rule accordingly.
