| Photo: Fr Ron Yee-Mon |
For the first time, the photo featured is a “foreign” one, sent by Fr Ron Yee-Mon who lives in Louisiana, USA and who took this photo in a Paris cemetery!
It led me to meditate on how linked we are to each other in our global village. The tall old trees recall the blessings of the past, of all the people from foreign lands who have contributed to our growth.
The graves in the foreground link us to those who have gone ahead of us in the journey of life while the falling autumn leaves (in my favourite colours) reflect the beauty of those senior citizens soon to make the second journey.
And yes, I thank Fr Ron for taking the trouble to send this photo, linking us to our friends in the diaspora who bring us grace through the Internet with their loving e-mails and inspirational messages. The communion of saints here and in the hereafter becomes real in the experience of their closeness.
