Alone in the wilderness

When we are in the wilderness, we feel alone like this bird.

Everything around us is dry and barren. Life is grey and gloomy. We feel abandoned by God. Our addictions are too much for us.

We have reached rock bottom. We are our own cross. Only pig's food is left for us.

God, God where are you? Where are you as my husband/wife walks out on me? Where are you as my new car is stolen? Where are you as my child is killed? Where are you as I am diagnosed with terminal cancer?

When God seems to be asleep, we cry out with Jesus "My God, my God why have you abandoned me?"

The Spirit has led us to be with Jesus in the wilderness. In the silence of God we wait. Lent will soon be over.
