JANUARY

Zion Community marked its 25th anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, San Fernando on January 5. Archbishop Gilbert was the chief celebrant.

FEBRUARY

20 th anniversary of the visit of Pope John Paul II to the Archdiocese of Port of Spain in 1985. Archbishop Gilbert wrote the Holy Father, thanking him for his visit and assuring him of the prayerful support of the Archdiocese.

He also asked the local Church to remember the occasion in prayerful thanks to God for a visit from the Vicar of Christ and to pray for his ministry.

. Couples for Christ celebrated its 7th anniversary with weeklong activities ending with a sports and family day.

APRIL 17 - Gran Couva parish celebrates its centenary

MAY

May 6 - Catholic News celebrates its 113-year anniversary making it the oldest newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago . Celebrations were held on July 1 with a special Mass at Fatima RC Church.

May 22 - Catholic Charismatic Renewal marks 30 years of rallies at the Grand Stand, Queens ' Park Savannah. Theme: Jer 29:11- Yes I know what plans I have in mind for you, Yahweh declares, plans for peace, not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.

 

JUNE

June 3 - Fr Pat Bascio CSSp celebrates his golden jubilee of priestly ordination

June 6 - Prior of Mount St Benedict, Fr Odo Van der Hejdt celebrates 50 years of his priesthood, renewing his monastic vows.

June 10-12- Choice Movement holds 50th Weekend Retreat at Emmaus Retreat Centre, Arima.

JULY

. July 2 - Gethsemane Institute of Zion Community celebrates its 10 th anniversary

. Bishop Malcolm Galt, CSSp and Fr Gerald Mac Mahon, OP celebrate the golden anniversaries of their priestly ordination on July 9 and July 10 respectively. Fr Roland Quesnel CSSp celebrated his golden jubilee of ordination on July 17.

. July 25 - Emmanuel Community celebrates 20 years of Community life and two years as a Public Association of Christ's Faithful in the Church.

Also in the month of July, local Retrouvaille community celebrated its 20-year anniversary.

July 23 - - Five Cluny sisters celebrated 315 collective years of dedicated service. They were Sr Anne Abrams - 70 years; Sr Una Doyle - 65 years, Sr Mel Kenny - 60 years, Sr Theodore Winter - 60 years and Sr Stanislaus Dwyer - 60 years. The five sisters and their community celebrated with a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Arouca.

SEPTEMBER

Sept 4 - St Anthony's parish, Point Fortin ended its yearlong 50th anniversary celebrations with a special Mass. The theme was 'We are all part of building the parish'.

Sept 10 - Five sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny - Srs Jerome Boland, Genevieve Baptiste, Ann Marie Rodriguez, Regina Leiba and Gertrude Tang Kai celebrated their golden jubilee of religious profession.

People of Praise celebrated their 16th anniversary with a Mass on Sept 23. Actual anniversary was Sept 24.

September 25 - Frs Rudy Mohammed and Reggie Hezekiah marked 45 years as priests

OCTOBER

Oct 12 - Mawasi Experience celebrated their 25 years of music ministry.

Also in this month COR celebrated 25 years in Trinidad

NOVEMBER

Living Water Community, founded by Rhonda Maingot and Rose Jackman in 1975 celebrates 30 th anniversary. The occasion was marked with a week of events culminating with a Mass on the feast of Christ the King at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

DECEMBER

Dec 6 - Archbishop Gilbert celebrated with Fatima College on the occasion of their 60 th anniversary. At a Mass held in the college courtyard, Mucurapo, the Archbishop stressed the need for Catholic school administrators to remain committed to Catholic "witness and service"
