Bishop Robert Rivas has welcomed Bishop Malcolm Galt, emeritus Bishop of Bridgetown, Barbados as the Pastor of St Michael's parish, Hamilton, Bequia. Originally from Trinidad, Bishop Galt has worked extensively here in various parishes and served as a missionary in Africa before being appointed Bishop of Barbados where he served for 10 years.

In his letter, which appeared in the December edition of the Kingstown diocesan news bulletin, Bishop Rivas warmly greeted Bishop Galt, telling parishioners, “Your parish is blessed to have so noble a Pastor to care for your spiritual and pastoral needs.
I am certain that Bishop Galt will very quickly endear himself to you, and indeed, the entire island of Bequia .”
He asked them to give the Bishop their support and to work together with him to build the local Church in a spirit of unity, faith, love and service.
Bishop Rivas hoped the appointment would spark new vocations, renew family life and build “a Eucharistic community that is generous, forgiving and centred in Christ.”
The Catholic News sends our congratulations and prayerful support to Bishop Galt on his appointment as Pastor of St Michael's, Bequia. |
