The diocese of St John's-Basseterre staged a sacred concert late last year to raise funds for the establishment of their radio station. Under the patronage of Bishop Donald J Reece, the concert proved to be a successful event.

The senior and youth choirs along with the steel orchestra of the cathedral lent their voices and melodies during the blessing of the concert. Opening prayers and remarks from Fr George A Williams, chairperson of the Communications Commission followed.

Performers included Bishop Reece who sang two songs and Fr Howard, administrator of the cathedral who recited a Jamaican poem in dialect.

After the concert, Bishop Reece thanked Daphne Mendes, chairperson of the fund-raising committee for her efforts and encouraged concertgoers to continue to support this venture.

Not long after the concert, equipment for the radio station arrived in Antigua and the station is expected to hit the airwaves soon.
