The Bishop’s Office of the Roman Catholic Church announced that the Vatican had accepted the resignation of Bishop OP Martin as leader of the Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan on November 18.
Bishop Dorick M Wright has been appointed the new leader of the diocese. Bishop Wright’s installation will take place on January 21.
Bishop Wright becomes the eighth prelate to lead the Diocese since its original establishment, as a Vicariate Apostolistic in 1893, and the second native son to hold the position.
The installation Mass will be combined with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Belize.
New Catholic radio station
Thanks to generous donations of materials, time and talent by M&M Engineering, parishioners and well-wishers, the new National Catholic Radio station, in Belize, is well on its way to being complete.
Fr Jim Blount, spiritual director of the radio station says, “The radio will be an instrument of love, to bring the love of Christ to all the people of Belize.”
