Bahamas archbishop celebrates
silver jubilee

The November issue of the Bahama Catholic, paid tribute to Archbishop Lawrence A Burke SJ of Kingston, Jamaica as he celebrated the Silver Jubilee of his Episcopal Ordination (October 11, 2006).

Archbishop Burke served as Archbishop of Nassau for 20 years prior to his appointment as Archbishop of Kingston.

10 years as sister dioceses

The Dioceses of Kingstown and Duluth celebrated 10 years as a Sister Dioceses. An agreement twinning the two dioceses was signed at the Holy Rosary Cathedral, Duluth on December 8, 1996.

On March 8 the following year a similar agreement was signed with the Cathedral of the Assumption in Kingstown, St Vincent.

The motto of the sister dioceses is: Together in Jesus: Our way to conversion, communion and solidarity

 

News from diocese of Bridgetown

In August the diocese of Bridgetown said goodbye to Fr Anton Dick, CSSp. who served for six years at St Dominic’s church.

Fr Anton has been appointed superior of the Rome community of the Holy Ghost Fathers with responsibility for education in his congregation.
In August of 2006, Fr Charles Dominque OP of Barbados was elected Regional Prior of St Louis Bertrand Vicariate in Grenada.

In October, Fr Vibert Stephens graduated from Codrington Collegge with a Master’s Degree in Theology.

St Patrick’s School celebrates its 75th anniversary on February 2, 2007.
