Choc’late Allen, the Chief Executive Officer of CaribbeanVizion – an organisation that lobbies for cultural and economic cooperation between Caribbean people and their governments - undertook the “100% Crime Free” project which commenced on December 31, 2006 to bring awareness of the crime situation to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The project commenced with an Inter-religious service, held at worship houses throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Other activities included a candle-lighting ceremony, paying homage to individuals who had lost their lives in 2006 due to acts of violence and crime.
Ms Allen completed her “fast for purity” on Wednesday, January 10. She had the support of Patrick Manning, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, UNC Chairman, Basdeo Panday, COP Political Leader Winston Dookeran, the Archbishop of Port of Spain, Edward Gilbert, the IRO, Archbishop Barbara Burke, NGOs, the staff at NALIS, many youth groups, and members of the public |
