Sunday January 21, 2007 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
In support of Choc'late

DEAR EDITOR: Choc’late Allen, the young lady who has inspired the nation by her five-day reading fast to help curb crime and violence in our society, is a brave citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.

Choc’late is only 13 years of age and is already the CEO of her own company. She has already met with the Prime Minister.

When citizens read or listen to the daily news it is always about the negative aspects of our youth, a small percentage of young people are engaged in negative behaviour, but there are more youths doing positive things; these youths are not always highlighted for their outstanding achievements, but when one so young as Choc’late takes action, the nation sits up and takes notice. How remarkable!

We need more youths to be involved in the decision-making issues of our nation and at all levels.

Her parents are proud of her, I am sure. What will it take for move courageous youths to step forward and show by example! The nation is in dire need of citizens who will lead by their example.

Choc’late Allen, continue what you have started, be an example for our nation’s youth. Keep up the good fight.

I. as a citizen, am totally behind your efforts/struggles. May God richly bless you for your fortitude and endurance. Be blessed always.
Ken Smith, Woodbrook

The Father's decorating skills

DEAR EDITOR: This horticultural arrangement has been flourishing on the kerb in front of our home for many years.

However, we have never appreciated it as much as this past Christmas, when our friends and visitors, and even passers-by were sufficiently attracted to it to stop and comment on this Godly work of art, despite our many other Christmas decorations. O, I marvel at the wisdom of my God!

Today, January 14, 2007, an entire week after the Christmas decorations have been taken down, this one continues to stand out, so we would like to share it with your readers.

A happy, holy peaceful and progressive 2007 to one and all.
The Allen family, Tunapuna
