Eight years and still going strong, our Christmas concert has become an annual event in the community, which is always awaited with high expectation and anticipation.
This year, however, things started off on a despondent note following the loss of one of our faithful and beloved young members. Sasha Charles who passed on in September 2006. She was a brilliant actress and so we did not allow her passing to be a reason not to push forward.
Surprisingly, as we came together things shaped up smoother and much more speedily than all the previous years. The theme chosen this year was One Man Did, which focussed on Tamy Eulyn who was the village character.
In the twinkling of an eye it was show time. Everyone was anxious and ready to deliver, but some factors were out of our hands despite the fact that we were so prepared. In spite of the inclement weather that came our way that evening and a few last minute setbacks, things still fell into place. A bad beginning really has a good end. In our case it turned out to be great.
The attendance was overwhelming, the sales very profitable. Everyone was elated and above all a message was delivered in one of our most sterling drama productions to a totally absorbed audience.
The evening concluded with customary parang which was appreciated and enjoyed by all even the passers-by.
Personally, I liked this year’s theme as well as the overall performance because I believe it truly defines Lengua as a community. We may be a small one but that never deters us from making full use of the talent God has blessed us with. If acting is what it takes to unfold important and significant messages then we are always ready to pick up the challenge.
Hats off to everyone who participated in our concert especially the youths of Lengua. Keep up the good work! Although my sister was not here physically to take part in this year’s production, I am most certain that she was here spiritually guiding us all and looking over everything to ensure that it was the success it turned out to be.
So, in addition to our message being received by an audience, which we could hear and see I know we touched the heart of one angel. This one was dedicated to you, rest in peace. |
