For the first time since the “new” Maloney RC Church was officially blessed on Monday, October 7, 1996 , we now have a sign bearing the words: “Church of the Incarnation”; previously ours was a church without a sign.
Last year we lost two prominent church members Glynis Hudson and Francis Victor who worshipped at this sanctuary and found peace. They shared that peace with others.
When Fr George Lewis came to our parish a few years ago, he was faced with many obstacles. The church was badly in need of repairs, and it was quite obvious the paint on the building was beginning to fade and peel, even the light bulbs needed changing.
The St Vincent de Paul group hosted a Bingo last year, which was a success, part of the proceeds went to help repair the church. A well- wisher also organised a barbecue, giving of his time, talent and money to help.
One of the most creative architects Roger Turton originally designed the structure of our church. The Baptismal font situated at the front entrance, “invites all to pass each time through the water as we celebrate birth, life, love and death.”
The year 2006 marks a new dawn for us, and we invite the incarnate presence in our midst, as we look for a sign in our spiritual journey, and pray for the youths of this nation. |
