Trust in the Lord was the theme of the homily delivered by Monsignor Christian Pereira at a special Mass concelebrated with Father Alan Mohammed OP, Parish Priest of Maraval on the occasion of the 15th World Day of the Sick celebrated last Sunday, February 12.

This Mass marked the culmination of the Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes.

Monsignor Pereira advised the hundreds of worshippers who came from all the parishes, to trust in God in spite of their illnesses. “Your trust in God,” he said, “should be like a tree planted at the water’s edge where it grows, bears fruit and is always green.”

The Mass was held at the picturesque and spacious Our Lady of Lourdes grotto in Maraval. Fr Mohammed anointed the sick before Mass and Msgr Pereira blessed the congregation with water specially brought from Lourdes.

In celebrating this Mass for the sick one could not help but wonder at the mystery of God using our Blessed Mother to carry out healing with the life-giving water that welled up at Lourdes, France.
