The Evangelization Commission held a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Our Nation on Saturday, February 10 at St Benedict’s, La Romaine.
The day began with Holy Mass with Fr Urban Hudlin OP, Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization as chief celebrant. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed a talk entitled, “Scripture Empowers Intercession”.
The intercessions for Church, Family, Youth, Against Crime and Violence, Nation and the World and finally the General Intercession which covered kidnapping, Chastity, AIDS, and Evangelization were presented by the members of GRACE Music Ministry.
Each segment included execution of the word, silent reflection, prayers of intercession, the Rosary and praise and worship by GRACE. Laura Nicholas led the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song at 3.00 p.m. After Benediction, the day ended as it had started with the celebration of Holy Mass.
It was heartening to see that people came to pray with us not only from La Romaine and surrounding parishes but from Penal, Princes Town, Arima, St Joseph, Diego Martin and Maracas St Joseph. The Commission would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who came out to pray for our nation in these challenging times.
The Evangelization Commission will hold a Day of Prayer and Praise next Sunday, February 25 at Beaumont Hill, next to St Peter’s Church, Pointe-à-Pierre. All are invited to come and begin the Lenten season on this day.
Join the Evangelization Commission led by Fr Hudlin, GRACE Music Ministry and Fr Jason Gordon as together, we “Put God First”.
