Spirit-filled gathering in Arima

by Cassilda Bart

The gathering of neighbours, friends and family on Carnival Monday at the Barts residence in Malabar Gardens, Arima was indeed a spirit-filled one.

Inspired by the words of The Echo composed by Sr Martin OP, I felt convinced that Jesus was calling me to minister to His people. The chorus goes like this: Can you hear someone calling it's the echo of Jesus whose voice I hear/ Let's open the windows of our hearts and the doors of our souls that He may enter in.

I pondered on these words and even though my husband is a very reserved person, I asked him to have some people come to our home on Carnival Monday to intercede for the many needs of our country. He had no objections, and the response was unbelievable.

Quite a number of persons from other Christian traditions attended – Catholics, Adventists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Open Bible. What a great time we had with the Lord.

The leader of the evening's proceedings was Janice James a Pentecostal who is the author of a book A Call to Seek God's Face. An anointed woman of God who trains office managers, Sunday school teachers etc, she was dynamic.

The Holy Spirit moved in a mighty way. Janice invited us to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit and let him in. Our meeting was planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., we went to 5.45 p.m. People just wanted more of the Lord. Janice, I am quite sure you were appointed by God.

We prayed for the various needs of our country, families, children, marriages, and our leaders. The 30 of us who gathered agreed it was a wonderful evening spent with the Lord. Thanks to all who answered to the call.

Thanks to Janice and Yvette one of my neighbours who led the singing, Cheryl, Kathy, the Moolchans and the many others too numerous to mention who made the evening Spirit-filled.

May you all be blessed. Special mention must be made to my cousin Mary Rose who came all the way from Brasso Seco, Paria to join with us.

The evening ended with special prayers for the leader Janice for success in her ministry and for all families.

Sr Martin, I want you to know I love you. I can never forget the days when I visited you and we sang your song! Because of your song I opened the windows and doors of my home and many had a great time in the Lord.

To God be glory.
