The Antilles Episcopal Conference Youth Commission, (AECYC) launched a Missionary Project in June 2005.
Six mature, young adults of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain attended a five-week in-house missionary training, together with participants from the other Caribbean Islands.
In October 2005, two young adults, one from Tobago the other from Trinidad began their one-year missionary assignment in the interior of Guyana. In this third year of the project, the AECYC once again invites new applicants who may have a burning desire to serve the Lord as a missionary.
These young adults will have an opportunity to do voluntary service within the (arch)dioceses of the AEC. However, there are some criteria that must be met.
The young adults must be between the ages of 20-35 years, must have a deep personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ, a sense of call to mission and are therefore willing to find the time for service.
It is also expected that the parish priests/parish administrators and community from which these young adults are chosen will support them both spiritually and financially.
This year, the AECYC Mission Training Institute will commence in St Vincent & the Grenadines on July 9 and continue to July 22, followed by a three-week short-term mission from July 23 to August 12.
Missionaries may then take up long-term mission from early October 2007 – August 2008 if called. Registration forms and further information about the project is available at the Youth Secretariat and from parish priests/administrators.
The closing date for registration is March 26. Additional information is available at our website: www.catholicyouthministrytrinbago.com |
