Sunday March 18, 2007 FROM THE PARISHES
Crusades in Point Fortin
By Renee Elbourne

The members of St Anthony’s parish Point Fortin and its faithful communities of New Village, Gonzales and Cap-de-Ville stirred the silence of the streets with joyful noises of praise and cries of gladness at the end of each day as we held our annual crusades.

The crusades began on January 24 and ended on February 24. Being a loud, vibrant and powerful parish we cannot be silent about God’s words. His Word is “life” to the soul and we can feel this “Life” in His words and teachings.

We experienced dynamic preaching and life-changing testimonies from our guest speakers who came from as far as Tunapuna and as near as Siparia. Each one of them was unique, special and extraordinary. Stimulated and empowered by the Holy Spirit they decreed, “Walk by Faith and not by sight. Walk in the Light of Christ.”

In the absence of light, darkness prevails. It is the ultimate plan of the devil to keep as many people as possible in darkness. In order to achieve this he tries to ensure that more and more people are drawn away from the light.

In Trinidad many people seem to seek the darkness. No one seems to have the answers to the problems our society now faces. What we fail to recognise is the reality that there is spiritual warfare between light and darkness, good and evil.

Therefore, we must not allow ourselves to become submerged in or contribute to darkness but allow the incandescent light of Jesus Christ to shine through us so that more people would be drawn to it.

We were reminded that life is a journey, a destiny built on faith. Everything we do or say must be guided by faith. We must dream and believe that in God all things are possible and carry the faith on from generation to generation.

What we see is what we live. There is always hope. We have been anointed and appointed to rise in the Holy Spirit to turn around our country because all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to us. “I give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven, what ever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and what ever you loose on earth will be loosed heaven” (Mt 16:19; Mt 18:18).

I wish you were there to see what I have seen, to hear what I have I heard and understand what I have understood. I also wish that the Church would bear more public witness in each district, in each community, to make people believe so that their eyes will see, their ears hear, their hearts understand and so they will turn and be healed.

We ought not to fear what is to come, but walk by faith and not by sight.”
