Lloyd Best, RIP

Lloyd Best
Lloyd Best

The Catholic News joins with the national community in mourning the death of economist Lloyd Best. Mr Best died of cancer on Monday, March 19.

In December 2000, when this newspaper hosted some 25 international journalists for the International Catholic Union of the Press (UCIP) “University”, Lloyd Best was one of the first speakers to address the group.

He described Trinidad to them “as quintessentially Caribbean” giving them an outstanding introduction, not only to Trinidad and Tobago but the Caribbean. We acknowledge his intellectual contribution and his advocacy for the Caribbean.

On behalf of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain we extend sincere condolences to his wife and children.
May he rest in peace.
