Bro Matthias Comyns, a member of the Presentation Brothers community in Grenada, was selected and honoured because of the tremendous contribution he has made to youth development from the time of his arrival in the West Indies in 1964.
Apart from a three-year stint in Trinidad, he has spent all his life living and working in Grenada.
During his years in the teaching service in Grenada Bro Matthias was instrumental in the moulding of hundreds of young men into productive, law-abiding citizens through the mainstream education system and also the scout movement, a group in which he was heavily involved.
He had the opportunity of teaching some of the brightest and the best of Grenada’s sons, who now form the elite in politics, business, medicine, law, religion, sports and entertainment.
Bro Matthias’ long service to Grenada is built upon his innate desire to serve his fellow man whilst living the dream of the founder of the Presentation Brothers, Edmund Rice, which is the education and formation of young men.
Like Bro Matthias there are many people out there who may feel that innate desire to serve, to dedicate their lives to serving God and humanity. Bro Matthias’s advice to you is: don’t just think, do something about it. |
