Pope prays that drivers show more prudence

Pope Benedict XVI prayed that drivers, especially young drivers, would exercise more prudence behind the wheel and would show greater respect for the "rules of the road."

Marking the UN's Global Road Safety Week April 25, the pope offered prayers for those killed or injured in traffic accidents and for their families.

At the end of his weekly general audience, the pope asked governments to ensure their roads are safe and to promote traffic safety to protect human life.
