Sunday May 20, 2007 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Accept Catholic changes

DEAR EDITOR: I am a 15 year-old girl writing this letter to express my views on praise and worship.

As a teenager in my Catholic Church I look forward to all the Masses and every activity there is in church. It gives me great pleasure to participate in praise and worship for it takes me into a peaceful place I cannot explain.

In my experience the Holy Spirit works within you to keep you wanting more that God has to offer. It is all so wonderful that one cannot refuse what God has in store for them.

One of our great events, The Jesus Explosion, which was held in Preysal last year, was one of the most spiritual, moving encounters with Jesus I’ve ever had. It was an overwhelming experience, not only for me, but for hundreds of youths who were present; even my four year old cousin, Brittany, enjoyed it!

When you have inspirational and Holy Spirit-filled people like Frs Taylor, Moses, Nathasingh, Chambers, lay ministers like Janet Chinia and Michael Serrette, just to name a few, you are sure to remain a Catholic and accept Jesus into your heart. This is what our youth and Catholic members of tomorrow need.

So come on Catholics – accept changes! Do not get left behind, don’t just come to Mass and sit there warming the pews. Get up! Clap! Rejoice! Sing! Dance! Give praise to God for he has done great things for us.

Congrats to Catholic News
on 115th anniversary

DEAR EDITOR: I wish to congratulate the Catholic News for celebrating its 115th anniversary. Praise God!

I am a retired worker of the Catholic paper, which began at Belmont Circular Road. When the paper celebrated its 100th anniversary I was still employed and received an award in gratitude for years of service to the Catholic News, beginning in 1961.

The paper is the best weekly with clean news and very inspirational reading. I wish to congratulate past editors, some deceased, and the present editor, June Johnston, as the first woman editor. God bless them all. I also wish to congratulate Sr Marie Thérèse on her award from the French Government.

I pray that the paper will continue giving us good news.
Margaret Deane, San Juan
