Sunday June 3, 2007 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Thanks for support

To the organisers, Colleen and Elena, my family, dear friends, well-wishers and everyone who contributed so generously and willingly to the fund-raiser for me on Monday, May 14, at Movie Towne,  I say a hearty and sincere THANK YOU.

This venture was a very humbling experience for me, and it exposed me again, to the awesome kindness, compassion and selflessness of each and every one of you.

My gratitude in receiving your unconditional love as I journey on my way to recovery is enormous and exceeds words. Be reassured and know that I pray, daily, for blessings and graces to be bestowed upon all of you. Once again, thank you.
Ever grateful,
Betty de Sousa   via email

My People of La Trinity

By Zita Allong

Colour, Race, Creed and Creativity
All this versatility in one earthly
Space once called Iere
Where in the outer world do we see
People showing such compatibility.
Only in this blest island of T& T
Named after the Blessed Trinity.

Here we enjoy each other’s varied company
And live in togetherness harmoniously
Despising all the probes of discontent
Displaying quite a lot of loving sentiment
Breathing in the hearts and minds of even
Dissidents.
All crying for some encouragement
To come to terms with disappointments

Only one word can explain the diversity in this tapestry
L – for loving, caring hearts of complacency.
O – overcoming the projection of all negativity
V – vigilance, variety, veracity
E – excellence, expertise, exceeding in all performances
And productivity

Where in the outer world would we find
A people of harmonious togetherness in mind
Coming together in countless numbers to
Celebrate
A display of love, creativity and versatility
Ignoring indiscriminate forces trying
To undermine the creativity of our sensitivity
Where oh where my people will you
Find such perfect unity.
Only this blest land of T & T
Named after the Blessed Trinity.
