Sunday June 17, 2007 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
God's blessings, Fr Julien

DEAR EDITOR: In 2005, Fr Gabriel Julien at the end of the Mass, which celebrated his 18th year in the priesthood, told the congregation to prepare for 20/20.

That day came on Thursday, May 17, at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church when a church filled with well-wishers joined Fr Julien and 14 of his brother priests to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his ordination.

I am sure that the heavenly court was joyous on that evening and the choirs of heavenly angels must have accompanied the music ministry led by Tricia Hudlin-Cooper.  The Mass was soul filling and spiritual and the music from the choir enhanced the occasion.

Fr Julien in his homily, punctuated with some humorous remarks, gave a stirring sermon on the need to be unafraid of bearing any sorrow which God brings our way. This sorrow he said, will turn to joy which no one could take away.

Fr Julien further spoke of the need for the people of God to support their priests with prayers and in the ministry. He spoke also of the vocation of the priesthood.

At the end of this spirit-filled Mass, one could hear pockets of conversation expressing their great satisfaction that the “Holy Spirit moved like a ball of Fire” through the celebration.

Fr Julien, we wish you God’s continued blessings in your ministry and may the Holy Spirit of God continue to give you the wisdom and strength in the vocation to which God has called you, as you continue to bring souls into his vineyard.

A day with Sr Ann

DEAR EDITOR: Rosary Monastery was the place for members of the Holy Name’s Past Pupils Association to meet for reflection on work and devotion. Sr Ann Bradshaw facilitated with awe on topics from cloistered life to women’s chores.

I appreciated her Dominican Spirituality. She made us pray for deceased Dominican Fraternity, not forgetting those alive - with humour. She is a superb facilitator. Church groups near and far, I recommend your members to Sr Ann.
