The Catholic men of the diocese of St George's-in-Grenada celebrated their eleventh annual Eucharistic Passover on the weekend of June 2 -3 under the theme “You shall be my witnesses”.
About three hundred men assembled at the Grenada Trade Centre for worship, praise and reflection.
The facilitator was Larry Oney, a Catholic lay evangelist from the US. His presentations for each of the three sessions were “The anointment for the divine appointment”, “Witnessing in the Supernatural” and “These signs shall follow them that believe”. Following each presentation were questions and comments.
The Eucharistic Passover usually attracts men from Trinidad Barbados, St Vincent and St Lucia. However Castries was not present this yeas because they have started their own Eucharistic Passover. Congratulations to them. The penitential service, which precedes the Mass at the end of the first day, includes anointing and personal confession.
The final Mass on the second day follows a “witness march” through the surrounding villages, accompanied by the music band on a truck, all before the Blessed Sacrament carried in procession.
Eucharistic Adoration is always a major focus during the weekend. There is an all-night vigil from 8.00 p.m. on Saturday to 8.00 a.m. on Sunday where parishes take turns through a one-hour shift in adoration. There are also other short periods of Eucharistic Exposition, adoration and prayers.
The men were encouraged to return to their parishes and give "witness" through their services.
Bishop Vincent Darius OP was the main celebrant at both Eucharistic celebrations. |
