Lydians sing at Cathedral

Lydian SingersThe 170-year-old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception resounded with unmistakable Lydian “noises” on the evening of Sunday, June 17.

An Evening of Musical Delight turned out to be precisely that for the large crowd who came to listen to the Lydians, with tassa and steel – appearing for the first time at the Cathedral – and to support the start of a project to restore the edifice.

A full complement of singers and musicians, led by Pat Bishop, treated patrons to a wide variety of pieces from the group’s extensive and varied repertoire. Works ranged from Handel’s Messiah to Mark Loquan’s Colours, to Puccini’s Nessun Dorma as sung by Eddie Cumberbatch.
