Sunday July 30, 2006 FROM THE PARISHES
First FMI religious profession in T&T

Kent Caldon, of the parish of Holy Trinity, Arouca, made his first religious profession in the Congregation of Fils de Marie Immaculée (FMI) – Sons of Mary Immaculate.

Kent, a teacher for nine years, left Trinidad in 2005 to enter the novitiate FMI House of Nazareth, in Rosalie, Dominica with a desire to find out what was God’s call for his life.  He pursued courses in Spirituality, Communication and Theology of Religious Life.

Kent returned to Trinidad and before his family and parishioners, of St John the Baptist RC Church, San Juan on Saturday, July 15, at 5:00 p.m. made his first religious profession, during the evening Mass.

To the jubilant singing, by the Music Ministry, of Glory and Honour, the entrance procession made its way to the sanctuary, where Fr Henri Brenon, parish priest of San Juan was joined by Fr Louis Vgniaud, parish priest of Vielle Case in Dominica.

After Fr Brenon gave his homily, Kent proceeded to the altar, where he gave a brief discourse on the spiritual writings of Fr Louis-Marie Baudouin (FMI founder), that added inspiration to him and that helped him in his discerning process.

He highlighted two such quotations: “If we do not stay in prayer, if we do not live in prayer, we could not live the life of Jesus in a radical way,” and “Happy the man in love with Jesus, in love with the word of God, faithful to the Church, trusting in Mary, strengthened by the Eucharist, friend of the poor, everybody’s friend.”

Fr Brenon, on behalf of the FMI Superior, received his profession, and together with Kent, the priests sang the Salve Regina. Kent was then presented with a large lighted candle, and he proceeded to place it at our parish statue of Our Lady, placing himself under her protection and care.

The evening ended with a dinner in the parish hall for Kent, his family and guests, who had been invited to make of this day a special time for him and the FMI community.

We ask the Lord, who has begun this work in his son Kent, bring it to fruition.
