Fifteen years ago, under the guidance of Fr Godfrey Stoute, then parish priest and the leadership of Mennen Walker Briggs, the Hospitality Team of St Charles parish blossomed into existence.
On July 15, the present parish priest Fr Reginald Hezekiah blessed the parish team as well as members from five neighbouring hospitality teams who were invited to celebrate with them.
He also took the opportunity to praise the work being done by the team and invite new membership, linking the work to be done to that of the good neighbour in the reading of the day.

After Mass, the team and their specially invited guests entered the new parish centre beautifully decorated for the special occasion.
There, the chairperson of 15 years, Mennen Walker Briggs outlined the history of the hospitality team from its inception right up to the present before she welcomed all to an eye-catching, mouth-watering brunch.
Then replete and relaxed, members were treated to the story of his hospitality team experience, from the start 15 years ago, by Lennox Mc Kay, as well as the story of Rachael Maharaj who has also thoroughly enjoyed her team experience since joining 14 years ago.
Fr Reggie expounded on the guidelines for good hospitality service and the importance of the ministry and exhorted the team to “keep up the good work.”
At the end of this most enjoyable and memorable morning, five members who had been part of the ministry from its inauguration were given tokens of appreciation. They were Mennen Walker Briggs, Lennox Mc Kay, Louise Maxwell, Otto Villafana and Monica John.
Cherilann Phillips, a member of the team was congratulated on being recently appointed the chairperson of the Archdiocesan Hospitality body.
Hearty congratulations to all members of our team, from the entire parish. Thank you for your service to us. We are proud of you for the many occasions you are called to serve elsewhere. |
