This Sunday begins yet another week of the annual Caribbean School for Catholic Communication and brings the three-year cycle to a close.
This year promises to be as exciting once again, with more than 50 participants from all over the Caribbean region registered and eager for their one-week experience at Emmaus Retreat Centre in Arima.
The main theme for these three years has been - Communications and the Religious Imagination. Sub-themes for each year have been, in 2004 - Creating a Culture of Peace through Art, 2005 - Creating a Culture of Peace through Music, and in this final year - Creating a Culture of Peace through Literature.
In keeping with this year’s focus on literature, presentations will be made by Dr Gordon Rohlehr and Earl Lovelace, both well known authors and lecturers in the area of Caribbean Literature.
Facilitators include Sr Angela Ann Zukowski of the University of Dayton, Ohio; Msgr Patrick Anthony from St Lucia and Fr Jason Gordon.
An exciting new addition to the Radio workshop is the dynamic Sherry Kennedy-Brownrigg from the United States. The Trinity Communications Team with Gitlin Aleong at the helm will be running the Video workshop.
This year sees the introduction of a new workshop which will teach participants how to design a website for their parish or community.
2006 marks the 12th year for the CSCC, a school that uniquely looks at media training from a Catholic perspective and prepares participants to find ways to use the various modern media to make religious images and messages relevant to our time. |
