The College was represented at the ceremony by three biologists, including Dr Victor R Townsend, Jnr, Dr Paul M Resslar and Dan Proud, the student president of the biology honor society at the college.
Joachim Pacheco, the school’s principal, welcomed and thanked the biologists and the college for the gifts. The biologists made short presentations in which they acknowledged members of the local community for the warm reception and promised to send additional science equipment in the near future.
Following the ceremony, the visitors were warmly received at the home of the Pacheco’s. Practical demonstrations regarding the microscopes and other science equipment were given to the teachers at the school, on Tuesday, July 25.
Support for the shipment of the microscopes to the village was provided by donations from the biology honour society at Virginia Wesleyan College and from Stephen Broadbridge, owner and operator of Caribbean Discovery Tours.
