The Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Ss. Peter and Paul School on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, celebrated their patronal feast with Sunday masses, a cultural celebration, a “Singsperation” concert, a triduum, which included a healing service, a bingo night and an honours luncheon.
Fr Ian Taylor led the triduum on June 27-28 and Cuthbert and Daphne Mejias conducted the healing service on June 29.
The triduum was just one of a number of activities in the Diocese of St Thomas which benefited recently from the help of members of the Port of Spain Archdiocese.
In June, Fr Gabriel Julien facilitated a day of recollection for lay ministers of the Holy Family Church in St Thomas. In late July he led a workshop on catechetics and spoke at a prayer group meeting there.
Fifty men from parishes on St Croix participated in a men’s retreat sponsored by the diocesan Office of Evangelisation on July 14 to 16. Directing the retreat were Wilfred Harper and Roland Timothy of the Gethsemane Institute in Trinidad.
From July 17 to 22, Mary Baptiste of the Gethsemane Institute directed a series of six discussions on building lay leadership in parishes, as part of the parish mission at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church on St John. |
