Stephan brings down the house

At the recently concluded 2007 World Championship of Performing Arts, Trinidadian Stephen Furlonge brought down the house, so to speak, in several categories, earning him four gold and one silver medal in vocal categories and three plaques – for gaining the highest scores in vocal contributions.

He also received an additional gold medal for overall performance and an Industrial Award – which earns him a place on the list of Registered Entertainers in the USA!

Stephen began his singing career at various parish events at a young age and has ever since been involved in using his talent for God.

Stephen uses this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to his success.

In his words, “First I would like to give thanks to Almighty God for gifting me with a most mystical resonate baritone voice and also for the many persons who have given me support, and in so doing, empowering and challenging me to confidently reach for the stars!

I give my deepest thanks to my teacher and vocal trainer, Marilyn De Castro Lalla, who, for the past 11 years, has worked relentlessly taking me from one step to the other, Music Exams, Music Festival, the various concerts, plays and church events.”

My various advisors – Srs Ambrose, Geraldine and Nicola, Aunty Val, Zita and Vicky. Sr Antoinette – my efficient manager. Carivouge Trinidad and Tobago World Star Team – for their guidance, advice and encouragement, Peter Telfer – who granted me permission and trained me to perform his unique and uplifting composition, ‘A call to praise – O Creator.

My mother, Helen-Marina and my brother Jhuraini-Iqubal, who have been my greatest critics and fans.

Many thanks also to the various worshipping communities and RC schools who have always supported me, St Peter’s parish, St Gabriel’s Girls, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, San Fernando, St Benedict’s College, St Andrew Kaagwa, Vistabella and the Trebles Choir.

Special thanks to my many sponsors, who include, The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, National Gas Company, Venture Credit Union, Palo Seco agricultural Enterprises Ltd., Kids Charity Trinidad Hilton, among many others. Your generosity has made my dream come true.

May God bless you all!
