St Benedict’s College, La Romaine celebrates its Golden Jubilee with a host of activities beginning on Sunday, September 10.
The week of celebrations begins today (Sept 10) with a concelebrated High Mass at the St Benedict Church, Alice Street, La Romaine.
The church service begins at 9.00 a.m. Father Allan Ventour will be officiating, with Archbishop Edward Gilbert, the Papal Nuncio and other dignitaries in attendance.
On Monday, September 11, Henrickson Suenath will deliver a lecture on the “The Rule of Law In a Modern Society”. Venue is the Auditorium, City Hall, San Fernando at 7.30 p.m.
At 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, there will be a photographic exhibition on the school and (Dom) Basil Mathews at the Auditorium, City Hall, San Fernando. The exhibition consists of 50 rare photographs taken in 1956.
From Whence We Came - a cultural concert will be held on Friday, September 15, by past students of St Benedict’s College, who have distinguished themselves in the fields of art and culture.
This concert will be held at the Palmiste Recreation Park and begins at 7.00 p.m. Artists appearing include Mungal Patasar and Ras Kommander. The concert is free.
The week of celebrations closes with an award ceremony and dinner at the Gulf City Auditorium on Saturday 17 at 7.00 p. m. Twenty-three past students who have distinguished themselves in the fields of community service, sport, culture, art, medicine and religion, among others, will be honoured. |
