Sunday October 22, 2006 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Reflection on the Rosary

DEAR EDITOR: Through your columns allow me to remind so many of your readers of the effective prayer that the Holy Rosary continues to be.

Taking many different forms worldwide, nonetheless, basically the   Rosary has maintained prayerful devotion to Our Blessed Lady and her divine Son, Jesus through its mysteries.

Not so long ago, every Catholic had a rosary in their pocket or purse. More so, everyone knew how to say the rosary and was sure of the magnetic, sincere spell and powerfulness that this prayer held in our mind and heart.

I do not mean to be critical of anyone who says the rosary before Mass. Certainly this is a very good practice that should be encouraged. But I am sure that having a more prayerful common purpose would be a better way to say our rosary before Mass. Meditation is always required when we say the rosary.

And what about hymns to Our Blessed Lady? More and more they don't exist. The irony of this is that all our priest have a special devotion to Our Blessed lady, I am sure of this.

The point is made that if the world is being swept by horror and turbulence, we might ask ourselves: are we silent in saying our rosary? If so, can we close the gap of our negligence today.
Edward Persad, Santa Cruz

CCR says thanks

DEAR EDITOR: The Catholic Charismatic Renewal held a fund-raiser cruise for renovations to Our Lady of Victory Church in Caroni. To all those who patronised, gave donations or assisted in any way in making the cruise (October 14) a tremendous success, thank you. May God continue to bless you all!It was thoroughly spirit-filling and enjoyable.
D Benjamin, on behalf of Catholic Charismatic Renewal/St Finbar’s Prayer Group.
