The Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) has received confirmation from the Apostolic Nunciature that on October 12, the nomination of the Most Reverend Donald Reece, until such date Bishop of St John’s-Basseterre, as Coadjuor Archbishop of Kingston-in-Jamaica was published in Rome in the L’Osservatore Romano.

Archbishop Reece will most likely take up his new duties with the celebration of a Solemn Liturgy in the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kingston on December 8.

No date has as yet been fixed for Archbishop Lawrence Burke’s retirement. Archbishop Reece will nonetheless be freed immediately of his duties in the diocese of St John’s-Basseterre.

Bishop Gabriel Malzaire (Diocese of Roseau, Dominica) has graciously accepted the call to serve as Apostolic Administrator of St John’s-Basseterre until the Holy See can provide for that diocese.
