In keeping with the mission of the Women’s Ministry to nurture mind, body and spirit and the ethos of life-long learning, Women on a Mission to Empower and Nurture organised its third annual summer programme during the month of August. This year the focus was on pastry making and the ageing process.
Usually resource persons from the three communities of the parish are selected as facilitators for the courses. Participants were privileged to be exposed to the knowledge and expertise of Alma Daniel, retired Nursing Supervisor of 41 years; Gabrielle Walker, Public Health Visitor attached to the Arima Health Facility and Kathryn Ann Lander, Pastry Chef of the Year.
In addition there was a cross-section of participants: male, female, adults and young adults. A total of 35 participants benefited from the programme. We thank God for those who participated in this project and the presenters who willingly consented to give of their time and talents.
We in the Women’s Ministry subscribe to the principle of empowerment – teaching a person to fish as opposed to giving him a fish. |
