The finals of Catholic Charismatic Renewal’s Chariots of Sound Winds of Praise national Gospel competition was held at the Fatima College auditorium on Saturday, October 28.
The hall was filled with supporters, family and friends of the finalists. Archbishop Gilbert was present and addressed the gathering. Winner of the group competition was Celestial Voices of Maloney.
Judges for the finals included well-known music teachers Joslynne Sealey and Jocelyn Pierre, Nigel Rojas of the band “Orange Sky” and Denise Gouveia-Perry, choir leader and attorney-at-law.
The following are the full results.
1st Place: Celestial Voices (group) of Maloney
2nd Place: Ashlin Melville-Cornwall (individual) of Tobago
3rd Place: David Charles (individual) of Mawasi Experience
4th Place: Michelle Reyes (individual) of Sangre Grande
5th Place: Kamlyn Melville-Pantin (individual) of Tobago
6th Place: Gloria Caesar (individual) from San Fernando
Special prizes were awarded to the following finalists:
- Most enthusiastic: Nicoda Francis 10 yrs old, (individual) of St Theresa’s RC – “Fresh, innocent, enthusiastic”
- Best audience rapport: Shaquille Vincent 10 yrs old (individual) of San Juan Boys’ RC “very good rapport with audience”
- Most Stage Presence: Nester Alloy (individual) of Barataria - “exceptional song, strong stage presence”
- Especially Talented: Miguel Torres (individual) of Arima – “very talented”
- Best Voice: Joel Joefield (individual) of Trincity – “beautiful voice, very good voice control”
