Douglas and Yvette James are the new national coordinators of the Marriage Encounter (ME) Movement.

The couple has taken over responsibility from Dexter and Freida Shim, who held the post for the last two years.

Fr Robert Llanos, Episcopal Vicar for Family Life and Chair of the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission, will continue as ME spiritual director.

The official handing over took place last Sunday at the end of the 28th Annual ME Convention at Emmaus Centre, Arima.

Theme of this year’s convention was Created and Redeemed, based on an eight-part series of talks on marital and sexual issues by Christopher West. The talks are based on the writings of Pope John Paul II and the teachings of the Church.

Fr Llanos told participating couples that while the DVD’s with the talks will not be on sale, they will be made available for Catholic couples in parishes to view and discuss the important messages raised.
