Sunday November 18, 2007 FROM THE PARISHES
Malabar thanks Fr Gregory McLawrence
By a parishioner

What a sad day it was for the parish of Malabar as Fr Gregory celebrated his last Mass with us as parish priest. Malabar was his first parish after his ordination.

In the four years and four months that he spent at Malabar he was transformed from a shy, young priest to a vibrant, well rounded confident parish priest who exhibited charisma and dedication to the Church and God’s people. He is well loved and cherished by all the parishioners of Malabar.

How well we remember his powerful homilies, his unwavering support of the youth in all their endeavours and his presence at all the activities in church.

During his stay at Malabar our church building got a brand new modern roof, an elegantly designed sanctuary and a refurbished Adoration Chapel which can accommodate approximately 40 adorers. Fr Gregory also served his other two communities of D’Abadie and Carapo with the same vigour and enthusiasm.

In obedience he has accepted the move to another parish. As people of God we wish him God’s richest blessings as we stand together with him in solidarity with our Arouca brothers and sisters.

Fr Gregory, may God continue to lift you up to higher places as you continue to serve His people.
