I looked again, recognising them to be members of the Spirituality Group – Mrs Pantin, Cecelia Whittaker, Eileen Greene, Yvonne Ali-Stephen and Mary Vincent. They had arrived early to welcome the pilgrims.
A few minutes after, about eleven big maxi taxis and a few cars arrived (two maxis came from Blanchisseuse). The pilgrims had come to visit our parish. What a sight! This group of pilgrims were members of the “Towers of Strength Prayer Group” who meet on Mondays at noon at the Cathedral.
The choir members, dressed in black polo jerseys, and led the group in songs of praise. Our parish priest, Fr George Lewis, looked refreshed after his weeklong retreat. He welcomed everyone.
In his homily, he reminded us that we were approaching the end of the liturgical year, and we should always ask God to give us the grace to keep our bodies pure and holy. The group presented Fr Lewis with a love offering.
Many danced their way to their maxis chipping to the beat of the recessional hymn. The Right Hand of God. A few stayed after Mass to get a special blessing from Fr Lewis.
Towers of Strength prayer group has a membership of 250 persons who belong to different parishes, some from as far as Blanchisseuse. |
