Santa Rosa celebrates feast day

The Parish of Santa Rosa invites everyone to celebrate our patronal feast today, Sunday, August 28, with a special Mass at 9.00 a.m. followed by procession through the streets of the Borough and closing with Benediction.

Santa Rosa is the first indigenous saint of the Americas and we in Arima will be happy to welcome all our Catholics to the celebration of her feast.

Archbishop Kelvin Felix of St Lucia will be the chief celebrant and homilist at the Mass. Archbishop Felix is originally from Dominica where the Carib Community of the Kalinago Territory , celebrated the 102 nd anniversary of the official recognition of their Carib Territory .

Archbishop Kelvin Felix will preach about the significance of the Holy Eucharist in the life of Santa Rosa and in the life of Catholics in the Santa Rosa parish community.

All are welcome to participate in our feast day celebrations; we invite in a special way the descendants of the First Peoples of our Nation whose special Day is celebrated October 14.

The Santa Rosa Carib Community with Chief (and President) Ricardo Bharath-Hernandez (who is also the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Arima) and the Queen of the Carib Community - Queen Valentina Medina and her husband Mr Medina will lead the procession immediately after the altar servers.

The Carib Community will be carrying the beautifully decorated statue of Santa Rosa . On this day there is usually a special Queen and King of the Day (last year we had a Prince and Princess for the Day).
