Sunday May 22, 2005 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Small price for God's help

DEAR EDITOR: It sometimes comes to me during the day to remember the most practical of reasons why God exists.

He loves us and is very, very willing to help us with our daily problems. He is always knocking at our door and asking to come into our daily lives. He is willing to give his “professional” services to us. And what's even better, his prices for helping us are very low, unlike some other forms of professional help.

We so often start our day in a rush and the only time we seem to have for a family gathering is in the car on the way to work in that miserable traffic jam.

Well let's turn that jam into a blessing. Most Catholic drivers who remembered to get their cars blessed would have a rosary gathering dust and cobweb on the rearview mirror.

Now seeing that Jesus who we Christians (Catholics are still supposed to be very good Christians) said, “ where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them ”, then let's get over the boredom and catch a blessing.

In these days of uncertainty that may be one of the last times we may be together as one.

Let's call upon our Lord's protection for the few hours we are apart until we meet again. We can make the rosary lively by getting the kids to say one part and the parents another.

However we do it, we can make a lively and interesting experience for the kids and a good way to start the day as a family.

During the day please remember he is willing to help with problems and his prices are just a prayer to pay . Talk to him person to person and he'll help.  Build a relationship with him.

Put him on the board in the boardroom, on the sales team in the campaign meeting. I promise he will always make great contributions if we care to listen. He is but a prayer away and we have showers of blessings to receive.

A Francis, Diego Martin

PS  Sometimes we need to remember all prayers should start with the dial up “ Praise to Jesus ” if we want to reach him.

Value of community spirituality

Dear Editor: Thank you for your editorial in last weekend's Catholic News . It brought me to a deeper appreciation of the value of community spirituality as compared to individualistic spirituality, which I now appreciate as an oxymoron.

After all, any authentic Christian spirituality must include the community. Thank you for the passion and heart you put into your work. Thank you for moving me a little closer to what God created me to be.

May He continue to bless you.

Claire Peters
