Essay competition in Point Fortin
 

The St Anthony's RC Church, Point Fortin 50 th Anniversary Essay Competition was open to all Catholic students in the secondary schools of the St Patrick Education Division.

There were two categories:

•  Forms 1-3

•  Forms 4 – 6

TOPICS

The topics were as followed:

Forms 1 – 3

•  How do you think the parish should celebrate its 50 th anniversary?

•  What does being Catholic mean to you?

•  Identify one Roman Catholic person in your community who has made an impact on your life. Discuss.

•  What does the sacrifice of the Holy Mass mean to you?

•  The priest uses a number of vessels in the celebration of Holy Mass. Name these vessels and explain the significance of each.

Forms 4 – 6

•  Should Roman Catholic youths be role models in the wider society? Discuss.

•  What do you think should be the role of the Catholic Church in a changing society.

•  How do you think the parish should celebrate its 50 th anniversary?

•  What does being Catholic mean to you?

•  “Catholic worship idols” “The Pope is the Anti Christ.” How does a young Catholic defend his religion under such attack?

•  How important is the music ministry for the sustainable development of the Church?

•  List the various parts of the Mass and vessels used and explain the significance of each part.

Because of the response received and the need to encourage our young Catholics to learn their faith, the members of the committee have decided to continue similar competitions.
