Pray for the innocent unborn

In preparing for this issue of Life Truths we considered the Lenten season as it pertains to the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end.

Therefore, during our Lenten reflections, we urge you to read on and use these situations as an opportunity to do some reparation for the innocent lives that are indiscriminately sacrificed.

“What a sad time when an innocent child must die so that we may live our lives as we wish”. Mother Teresa.

Last issue we were able to reveal the reality of the sale of pre-born babies for “regenerative treatment” and the treating of illnesses. This is happening right here on our door steps in Barbados.

In researching, we have been compelled to take note of the ever worsening situations of which we would list just a very few, in an effort for us as Catholic Christians, to understand the responsibility that lies with us to pray and stand up, not only for the innocent lives of the unborn but for the preservation of a world we can hope will be promising for our children and grandchildren.

In recent news:
Abortion laws expanded - abortion restrictions have been eased in the strong Catholic countries of Portugal and Peru.

The Commission on the Status of Women this month at the UN, sought to eliminate the practice of aborting female unborn children, discriminating against the female gender in preference for the male children (pre-natal sex selection is a practice that is common in China and India,). This positive step was proposed by the USA and opposed by India, China, Canada, Mexico and others. Needless to say this abortion practice will continue un- restrained as discussions continue at UN talks.

A Boston woman is suing an abortion clinic for not completing an abortion (not killing her daughter) leaving her pregnant without her knowledge. Now her daughter is two years old, she is suing for child support. The clinic was negligent in not killing her daughter.

In a related story, a court awarded US$325,000.00 to a separated couple who sued a doctor for not diagnosing their unborn child with Down’s Syndrome in time for an abortion. The mother of the child said her daughter’s condition “totally disrupted our plans”, and resulted in the breakdown of the marriage.

Now these are but a few of the horrendous but TRUTHFUL situations that are taking place in our world of today. This is just one week’s news. You would shudder to know the ever-evolving unbelievable acts against God’s most holy will for our lives.

During this Lenten season let us take some time out and say a prayer for the innocent unborn and for those who have answered God’s call in protecting and defending the dignity of life from conception to natural death.
